I’ve written primarily for apps and tried kindle vella too but I’ve been so dissatisfied with the experience that I am FINALLY going to try writing romance books for Kindle Unlimited. I’ve written a contemporary, dark mafia romance and it’s now available for pre-order and will be released on Kindle Unlimited on January 31st, 2023. Or you can get early release chapters on Kindle Vella if you wish to read it that way.

I made a cover in the style of j.r. ward

I’ve used adobe photoshop since I was a teenager. I started making fanart for movies and television shows that I like. Now, as an adult, I’ve decided to use my skills to make book covers. I previously made one in the style of L.J. Shen’s book covers. Today, I am making one in the style of J.R. Ward.

J.R. Ward is a paranormal romance author. Her covers are steamy and eye-catching because of that. The main series she is known for is The Black Dagger Brotherhood and that’s the cover style I tried to make.

I’ve always made my own covers. When you self-publish and write serial fiction, I think photoshop is one of those skills writers should know. A pre-made cover can cost $50 to $100 or more depending on if you are getting a bundle for a series. And an original cover can cost anywhere from $100-$500 or more depending on how fancy of a designer you get. I’ve never tried selling my covers though. I thought for a long time because I didn’t have a degree in graphic design that meant I wasn’t professional or something. But I’ve come to realize that isn’t the case.

And for one of my early projects, I tried to make a cover similar to LJ Shen. She writes contemporary romance that’s usually pretty dark and has always been one of my favorites. Her covers always catch my eye when I’m looking on kindle, and so I thought hers would be a good place to start.

I hit 74 k on the magic school novel!

Hello everyone! I’ve had some life changes going on recently which is why I haven’t really been updating. But since my last update, I’ve made a considerable chunk in The Magic School Novel that I’ve been working on since I went to the writer’s conference last October. I’m actually quite pleased with where it’s going.

There were some themes I was writing about in The Anointed which was by Kindle Vella project that I just think I’m doing a better job on with this version. The Anointed is still up, and you can still read it, but I won’t be finishing it because of this particular project.

I’m also still writing serial fiction for Dreame. My most recent novel with them is The Wolves of Glacier Falls and it’s currently free right now but I am SUPER close to getting to 500 followers on that story. Once I hit 500, I can add it to the pay-to-read program with them which means I will get ROYALTIES!
