What I’m Watching: Prop Culture

Prop Culture is a series on Disneyplus which details the history of props from the famous Disney classics. The first episode follows the search for props from Mary Poppins. This includes such gems as Mary’s famous bird umbrella, the St. Paul’s Cathedral snow globe, matte paintings of Marry Poppins and her first entrance into the film.

It reconnects important pieces with their creators and actors. Karen Dotrice, who played Jane Banks, makes an appearance as well as one of the films choreographers Dee Dee Wood.

The series continues on with Tron, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pirates of the Caribbean, Honey I shrunk the Kids, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and The Muppet Movie.

Each episode includes members of the films cast and creators discussing objects from the films they work on and the creation of them. Its a fun journey back into the past and perfect for the pop culture junkie in your life.
